Construction security needs can change as a building moves toward completion. At The Residences at Olde Town Station in Arvada, Spear Security Denver provided construction security and fire watch coverage for PCL Construction. What began as a winter assignment continued through completion of the project the following summer.
PCL Construction’s Feedback
“We had the need for Firewatch security at a construction site in Arvada during the winter months to ensure the building remained heated at all times. Spear provided excellent service to secure the building. We ended up keeping them until the overall completion in the project the next summer.”
PCL Construction — Olde Towne Project, Arvada
Project Overview: The Residences at Olde Town Station
The Residences at Olde Town Station was a 252-unit multifamily development near 56th Avenue and Vance Street in Arvada. Its location placed new housing within walking distance of Historic Olde Town Arvada, nearby shops and the Olde Town Arvada commuter station.
The Arvada Urban Renewal Authority’s project announcement described the development as part of a broader urban renewal effort. PCL Construction served as the general contractor.
Winter Fire Watch and Construction Security
PCL described its initial need as fire watch security during the winter months, when the building needed to remain heated. Spear supplied security coverage for that construction-stage requirement.
For a contractor, an assignment like this calls for clear expectations about the areas being covered, the conditions guards should observe and whom they should contact when a concern arises. Security personnel work within the agreed assignment, while the contractor and qualified trades retain responsibility for building systems and construction operations.
Coverage Continued Through Project Completion
PCL’s feedback highlights both the quality of Spear’s service and the duration of the working relationship. After the initial winter need, PCL kept Spear on the project through its overall completion the following summer.
That continuation is a practical example of security coverage adapting to a construction project’s timeline. A short-term or seasonal requirement can develop into an ongoing assignment as the contractor’s needs evolve.
